Obtaining your Official Transcript:

Step 1: Before submitting request for transcript

Make sure no outstanding balance is owed to the institution. 

Know how recipient school, employer, would want to receive your transcript. Particular parties want all materials in one package, others may request the official transcript be sent directly to them.

Step 2: Gather all correct information

Contact your institution Registrar’s office

 Ask if they have consent to use electronic process, if not you would have to mail it to the Registrars office or hand deliver information to them.

This is where the Registrar’s office is going to ask for specific information about you, different institutions are going to ask for different information

Some examples of information to gather are listed: Your handwritten signature, Social security number or student ID number, Current address and phone number, Dates of attendance / graduation and Full name / mailing address of recipients.

Step 3: Submitting the Transcript Request

Below is a example of how a professional letter should be sent to the Registrar’s office using example information above:

Dear, Registrar

Date: Day Month, Year
Subject: Request Original Transcript.

Please process my request for a copy of my full transcript. I have enclosed the (the processing fee) that is required by the school. To help locate my records, I attended from 2014 to 2017.  My Social Security number is 123-45-6789 and my student ID number was 128987. 

Please mail the transcript to the address as indicated below:

Thanking you in advance for your prompt assistance.

Step 4: Need to knows

The price of getting your transcript is subject to which institution you are apart of most offer the service from between 3 to 10 dollars as a processing fee. Just make sure when you request call and ask and make sure all fees are enclosed.

Upon receiving the official transcript do not attempt to open the envelope this would make the transcript void of being a official transcript if sent to a employer or another institution. You should receive your transcript on or before 10 business days of requesting.
